Liz was born in raised in Hartstown, Pennsylvania. Living in the country she always had lots of cats and dogs to care for and dress up! When the opportunity came to work at a local veterinary hospital in the late 90s she took the chance with no experience and was hired as a receptionist. It was there that she learned a majority of her skills both as a receptionist and veterinary assistant. After getting married her husband’s career with the USAF took them to Tucson, AZ and she found her next clinic and joined the Encanto Pet Clinic family in 1999. She started there as a receptionist and helped them make their transition into their current location. After years with them, her husband was transferred and Liz joined a large veterinary practice in San Antonio, TX where she became a supervisor and was able to expand her knowledge into management. She moved back to Tucson in 2007 and came back to Encanto as their CSR Supervisor. Liz has worked in a variety of areas within the clinic from front office to assistant as well as management. She is just happy to be in the veterinary environment working with patients and clients.
She shares her home with her husband, Kris, their 2 sons, Andrew who attends NAU, and Jackson who keeps them busy with all his sports activities. They also have 3 four legged kids. Sammy, their Texas found rescue retriever mix and Liz’s shadow. Dante, a Papillion, and the most high maintenance canine to ever exist. Liz most enjoys spending her time with her family and friends, listening to music and going to concerts, and her newly found love of yoga.

Scooter is the most recent rescue adopted into the Ireland household. As a 6 month old pup,she was hit by a car at the end of September 2015 and a Good Samaritan brought her to Encanto Pet Clinic immediately. Her injuries included an injured front leg, severe head trauma and a fractured jaw. Dr. Kranch initiated treatment for the head trauma and provided supportive care until Scooter was stable enough to have her jaw surgically repaired. After 6 weeks of a soft diet and cage rest to heal her injured leg, everyone had fallen in love with her.
Since the Ireland’s had recently lost their Sheba, and had room in their hearts and home, she went home over the long Thanksgiving weekend so Scooter didn’t have to stay in the clinic for the holiday. Needless to say at the end of the weekend, she did not return to the clinic and has been being spoiled at the Ireland’s.
Scooter is an athletic dachshund mix who loves to walk on walls, go for walks, play fetch (with and without others), has quite the long jump and has recently found a love for swimming!

Doobie came to Encanto through a local cat shelter as a kitten after she had been brought in suffering from a severely broken leg that had been left untreated for two weeks. Dr. Ireland did surgery to repair the injured leg and in the extensive recuperation time at Encanto, she wormed her way into his heart and he decided she would make a great companion to our vision impaired clinic cat that already lived here. She and Dr. Ireland have a special bond and trust. She adores him and allows him to play and rough house with her that she does not tolerate from anyone else. Unfortunately, Packy who was her buddy passed away in September of 2015 so she is now the sole Encanto Pet Clinic cat and she is enjoying the attention.

Near the end of January 2016, a young man found very tiny sick puppy near Encanto. He brought him in and asked us what to do with him-he did not want to keep him but did not want to take him to a shelter.
Since he was only ~6 weeks old, he needed immediate attention so the veterinarians assessed him and found out he was positive for Parvovirus. After hospitalization and treatment over the next 10 days, Dobby as he was named, successfully recovered from his illness and regained his strength.
Dr. Ireland felt that Scooter needed a buddy to keep her company so Dobby became the latest addition to the Ireland clan. We like to say Dobby is a mini Pitbull (AKA Chihuahua mix). He and Scooter have become the best of friends and he copies Scooter behaviors-good and bad. Dobby and Scooter have brought much joy and laughter into the Ireland home along with all the trouble puppies get into.
